The abdominal wall is held together with muscles and tendons that are supposed to be strong and touch and travel along the ribs and groin. It is used to hold everything inside of the abdomen and to keep it from spilling out. There are areas in the abdominal wall that are naturally weak where the nerves and blood vessels pass through. One such wear area if the femoral canal inside of the groin.

The femoral hernia develops when the muscles or tissues in the body opens up and the contents inside are being pushed through it. This will cause the area to bulge and swell and may also cause other types of symptoms as well.

Hiatal Hernia Symptoms

A Hiatal hernia will happen when a small region of the stomach is pushing its way through the diaphragm. This is a small, sheet like muscle that sets between the lungs and the abdomen. In most people it will not cause any symptoms – however it is able to increase their risk of suffering from acid reflux. This is when the stomach acid will back up into the esophagus.

In normal cases the diaphragm is above everything that is held within the stomach. The esophagus will travel through the opening in the diaphragm through what is known the hiatus before it reaches the stomach. The Hiatal hernia will form when the tissues that surround the hiatus are weakened. There are three types of Hiatal hernias; small, large, and strangulated.

Causes Of Inguinal Hernias

Inguinal hernias are one of the hardest types for health experts to understand. Because of this they have a hard time trying to determine the exact cause for it. Most believe that extreme pressure in the stomach, a weak spot in the abdominal wall that is pre-existing, or both are the most common reasons for it.

According to research the majority of people who have an inguinal hernia have had a weak area in their abdominal wall since they were born. This occurs when the abdominal lining is not able to close properly during the development stage. In other cases when the patient is much older it can be caused when the muscles in the abdomen have become weak due to aging, heavy physical activity, or other factors such as this.
