Inguinal Hernia Symptoms
An inguinal hernia – is also known as a groin hernia. This is a lump or mass that will develop from a protrusion of the small intestines or fatty tissue that will push its way into the area of the groin. It does this by pushing through any weak areas that exist in the abdominal wall due to old age, heavy straining, or prior surgical procedures.
Inguinal Hernias In Men
When a man has an inguinal hernia it will begin to develop inside of the groin where the spermatic cord and the blood vessels that lead to the testicles run through to the abdominal cavity and also into the scrotum. This is also known and referred to as the inguinal canal.
Inguinal Hernias In Women
When a woman has an inguinal hernias it will begin to develop where the connective tissue that connects the uterus will exit from the abdomen and link to the tissue that is around the opening of the vagina. In a woman this is known as the inguinal canal.
Symptoms
Like with most types of hernias these do not always produce any type of symptoms. Many people do not even realize that there may be a problem down in that area until it is more advanced. Other may experience a few uncomfortable or rather extreme symptoms that include:
- A lump inside of the groin
- Sharp and sudden pain in the scrotum
- Discomfort in the region of the abdomen
- A heavy and uncomfortable feeling in the groin
- Pain inside of the groin when trying to move or standing too long
